International Society of Urological Pathology

Letters from the President

Dear Esteemed Members,

I am deeply honored to serve our members and the broader urologic pathology community. My journey with the International Society of Urologic Pathology (ISUP) began in 1999 when I became a member, and I had the privilege of serving as Treasurer and Board Member from 2005 to 2011. Over the years, ISUP has made remarkable progress and a lasting impact, thanks to our dedicated members and outstanding leadership – most recently Drs. Glen Kristiansen, Kenneth Iczkowski, and Theodorus van der Kwast.

During my term, I look forward to building on the strong foundation of our society and launching new initiatives to further enhance our reach and influence. I will work closely with our members to strengthen and expand educational resources and programs, grow our membership, and ensure that ISUP remains an inclusive and dynamic community.

We are fortunate to have an exceptional leadership team guiding our society, including Drs. Michelle Downes (Secretary), Nancy Greenland (Treasurer), Gladell Paner (International Councilor North America), Geert J.L.H. van Leenders (International Councilor Europe), Toyonori Tsuzuki (International Councilor Asia), Joanna Leith Perry-Keene (International Councilor Australia), and Laura Jufe (International Councilor South America). I am also pleased that Dr. Geert J.L.H. van Leenders has assumed the role of President-Elect. With this transition, the position of International Councilor Europe, is now vacant. If you are interested in this role, please send your CV and personal statement to info@isupweb.org by April 15, 2025.

Through collaboration with clinical colleagues, the Genitourinary Pathology Society, and other urologic societies, we will continue developing clinical practice guidelines and recommendations that address emerging technologies and innovations in our field. This is truly an exciting time for urologic pathology, and I look forward to working with all of you to shape the future of our specialty.
